Big Thief return with their sixth studio album, Double Infinity, recorded over three weeks at the legendary Power Station in New York City. Braving icy commutes by bike between Brooklyn and Manhattan, the trio gathered daily in the studio’s warm, wood-panelled space, joined by a circle of collaborators including Alena Spanger, Caleb Michel, Hannah Cohen, Jon Nellen, Joshua Crumbly, June McDoom, Laraaji, Mikel Patrick Avery, and Mikey Buishas.
Playing live and tracking simultaneously, the group leaned into improvisation, shaping songs through shared discovery. The album was produced, engineered and mixed by longtime collaborator Dom Monks.
On ‘Incomprehensible’, Adrianne Lenker wrestles with the passage of time, the nature of truth, and the quiet wonder of continued existence. “How can beauty that is living be anything but true?” she asks. With silver hairs on her shoulders and the wind in her hair, she sings of surrendering to the sculpting forces of gravity and time. “Incomprehensible, let me be.”
Double Infinity follows the Grammy-nominated Dragon New Warm Mountain I Believe In You and further deepens the band’s exploration of raw, communal expression.
